There are times when life gets in the way of our goals.
I had a big goal for January of 2019. It was to open up a membership called The Creative Copy Corner. The site is for anyone that wants to learn more about copywriting for their business. I had started marketing the new site and was really excited about what was to come.
Then, Life threw me a curveball in the form of a new house. From the day I walked through the front door, every part of my business was pushed to the side.
I had offers to make and contracts to sign. Negotiations were made, and then more contracts were signed. I put my house on the market and tried to keep it clean while living there with my husband and two young kids.
Once the new house was finally mine, the real fun began. Renovations and remodels took up our days and nights for 3 weeks straight. We had to replace all the plumbing in the house, rip out our basement bathroom, replace a faulty front door…the list goes on and on.
Now that I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, I realize how far removed I am from my business. I haven’t checked my website in almost 2 months! I haven’t reached out to potential new clients about work. I haven’t worked on a single lesson for my new membership site.
I feel lost.
I’m pissed at myself for letting life get in the way of my business.
I hate this feeling. It’s like going on a two-week long vacation and coming back to new office gossip and mounds of paperwork on your desk. How do you even begin to get back into the swing of things?
I’ve finally unpacked the last box labeled “Steph Office.” My desk is a pile of photos, cords, and books I’ve never opened. My computer is out, and I’m finally writing for the first time in months.
It feels good!
Some of my goals for 2019 are to be a helpful business owner. My job isn’t to just write copy, I want to help others in the process. So, I need some help from you.
