How to grow your email list before a launch

Good ol’ list building…

It’s the one thing every business owner swears by. And, for good reason. Your email list is the only “algorithm proof” digital space you can use to keep in touch with your audience.

Which is important when you plan to use that list to promote your paid offers.

I love email!

It’s the one place I show up consistently, no matter what. I also share my most valuable tips and resources with my subscribers. By joining my list, you’ve invested your time and energy in me…so I want to make sure I do the same in return.

And while list size doesn’t determine how profitable your business will be, it is important to add new faces each month.

Your newest subscribers are typically the most excited to hear from you. They open every email. Click on your links. And, depending on where they’ve come from before joining, they can sometimes be the subscribers most interested in your paid offers.

Which is why list growth shouldn’t focus on numbers…

It should focus on quality.

If you can grow your list with high-quality subscribers, not just people who grab your freebie and run, you’ll be set. That’s why I’m sharing this list of freebie ideas you can use to grow your email list, fast.

Creating the freebie is just the first part. Promoting it is where the real work starts. And, you want to promote your freebie anywhere you can – whenever you can. Here are a few of my favorite places to promote a newly created freebie.

  • Use Pinterest to drive traffic to your freebie landing page or blog posts on the topic of your freebie.

  • Speaking of blogs, you can promote your freebie in the middle of the post. Just like I’ve done in this one. Include a photo to grab attention and a form to make the sign-up process easy.

  • Create a Facebook page header graphic in Canva and mention your freebie on that. You can also edit the description of that header image to talk about why the freebie is useful and how people can sign-up.

  • Use Instagram stories to talk about your freebie. Ask your followers to DM you for the link. You should also include a link to your freebie inside your IG bio.

  • Promote your freebie in the call-to-action at the end of your social media posts. Make sure to include a link whenever possible.

  • If you host a Facebook group, you can use the “ask member questions” function to get your new members to leave their email address in exchange for your freebie.

You can use all of these or just some of these promotion methods to really increase the number of eyes on your offer. Just remember to stay consistent with your promotion efforts. And, never get pushy or angry if someone decides not to sign-up.

It’s not about the size of your list, it’s about the people on it.
